Indian Festivals are at the heart of People’s Lives in India and All Indians celebrate festivals with immense passion following all traditions.
Parsi New Year is one of the Indian Festival which is around the corner Celebrated by particular sects of Parsis. It is celebrated every year in the month of August. Parsi delicacies plays a very important role in the New Year celebrations with wide varieties of Non-Vegetarian Dishes.
Being a Food Explorer, I got this chance to experience the significant Parsi Delicacies at Hotel Marine Plaza invited by Kaveeta Rai – PR Manager. She was very kind enough to send me an invite with my husband before a week so that I can scheduled my time accordingly.
On this Special Occasion, Hotel Marine Plaza is hosting a Special Feast to make this Day more merrier. It is gonna placed at The BayView which is blessed with amazing view facing the “Queens Necklaces” which is quite Impressive where you will actually fall in Love with the view of Sea and Nature’s Beauty.
Along with the Regular Buffet of Indian and Continental dishes, there would be special additions of Parsi Delicacies.
Two things attracted me when I got an Invite

– The Beautiful BayView
As soon as I was seated at the very well organized table I was served with Healthy and Nutritious tossed Salad consisted of Sprouts and Veggies
Next was Patra also known as Alu Vadi.
This Dish of Patra surely took my taste bud on a roller coaster ride..It was sweet, tangy and salty at the same time. The healthy Colocasia Leaves was stuffed with the mixture and it was tempered with spices and sesame seeds.
Since I am Soup Lover, I can’t resist myself to binge on it as soon as it was placed on my table and it is known as popular Parsi Soup – Laganshala Soup made with Vegetable Broth and Lentils.
A thick and heavy soup tasted more like
Mixed vegetable soup.
Next was Potato Fish Cakes these were deep fried with an egg coating with more of potatoes and very less of fishy flavor. Although my little one and hubby relished it to the core.
And the meal continued with the Maincourse Like Brown Rice, Chicken Faracha, Prawns Curry, Papadi Mutter Nu Shaak which was delicious and tempting.
Chicken Faracha – The Big Chunky Chicken was coated with a crunchy coating. Despite of deep fried, they did not feel oily and the marinade had seeped well into the chicken
Brown Rice was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed it very much with flavorful Papdi Mutter Gravy which is an irresistible preparation of Green peas (Mutter) and Broad Beans (Papdi) with little sweet in taste.
Last but not least, The waiter served us dessert quickly Lagan Nu Custard
A Baked pudding which was served in cute cup very presentably..It was dense pudding with sweetness balanced topped with dryfruits.
You might be pondering where’s the most traditional Parsi Dishes like Patra Ni Macchi, Salli Boti and Mutton Dhansak Well, It was not prepared for this Event but Chef Rishi promised to make it available on the eve of Parsi New Year.
